Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Injections
Reverse Aging with the Power of Platelets
PRP stands for Platelet-Rich Plasma, a derivative processed from your very own blood. Human blood contains plasma, white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. The platelets are rich in proteins called growth factors. These growth factors and stimulating factors are then released from the platelets and are central to the body’s ability to heal and repair.
Harnessing the body's own power of healing, we can draw your blood, concentrate the Platelet-Rich Plasma, and combine it with a fibrin matrix (called PRFM). This allows us to re-inject the PRP into areas where healing is needed; the fibrin matrix helps to hold the platelets in place longer, so they release more growth factors into the area.
PRP/PRFM can be used to treat a whole host of conditions:
-
Fine lines and wrinkles: Use PRP/PRFM with any laser or microneedling treatment to further stimulate collagen production (learn more about the Halo laser resurfacing here, or about Morpheus 8 treatments here)
-
Tear trough depression: PRP/PRFM can be injected in areas similar to dermal filler, at much less cost
-
Facial volume loss: Restore the natural downward rotation of our face as we age
-
Hair loss: PRP injections have been shown to increase the diameter of hair follicles and the density of hair; combine them with Keravive treatment for thicker, healthier hair (learn more about Keravive here)
-
Painful intercourse: PRP/PRFM is a part of our vaginal rejuvenation procedures, to tighten and improve the health of the vagina (learn more about vaginal rejuvenation here)
-
Decreased or poor orgasm: PRP/PRFM injections to the clitoris, labia, and G-spot help to stimulate new nerve growth, enhancing and strengthening orgasm
-
Improvement in Lichen Sclerosis: This painful vaginal condition is improved with a combination of MorpheusV treatment and PRP/PRFM injections (learn more about MorpheusV here)
-
Erectile dysfunction: PRP/PRFM has been used in penile injections to enhance the strength and duration of erections
Frequently Asked Questions
How does PRP/PRFRM work?

PRP is a concentrated extraction of platelets suspended in a small amount of plasma. Platelets contain powerful growth factors, hormones, nutrients and other bioactive compounds that play an essential role in blood clotting, wound healing, and tissue regeneration. The high concentration of platelets in PRP super-charges the healing and regeneration process in the area where it is injected. The platelets release growth factors, which signal to the surrounding cells to repair the damaged tissue and create new, healthy tissue.
Some of the growth factors and other cytokines present in PRP include:
-
platelet-derived growth factor
-
transforming growth factor beta
-
fibroblast growth factor
-
vascular endothelial growth factor
-
epidermal growth factor
-
Interleukin 8
-
keratinocyte growth factor
-
connective tissue growth factor
All PRP treatments require the same three-step process: blood is drawn, then processed to extract the PRP, and then injected into the treatment area.  Since platelet-rich-plasma is obtained from your own blood, there is little to no risk of rejection or adverse reaction. Thus, PRP therapy is completely natural and very safe.
Who is the best candidate for PRP/PRFRM?

Everyone is a candidate for improvement from PRP/PRFM, since it uses the power that is already in your own blood. No foreign products are injected.
Consider PRP/PRFM if you are looking for:
-
Improvement in fine lines and wrinkles on the face
-
Restoring facial volume without fillers
-
Thicker hair, or restoration of areas of hair loss
-
Treatment for painful intercourse
-
Improvement in sensitivity, strength, and intensity of orgasms (sometimes called the "Orgasm Shot")
-
Improvement in Lichen Sclerosis
-
Enhancement of erectile dysfunction: PRP/PRFM has been used in penile injections to enhance the strength and duration of erections
How is PRP/PRFRM performed?

Our assistant will draw 1-2 vials of your whole blood. We then concentrate the platelet-rich plasma layer of your blood, and combine it with the fibrin matrix. Now the product is ready to be used anywhere in the body. PRP/PRFM is then re-injected into the scalp, facial skin, or vaginal tissue to begin new growth and healing.
Treatment time is just 5-10 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
There is no special preparation before a PRP/PRFM treatment, but we do recommend that you arrive very well hydrated so that it is easy to collect the blood. AVOID caffeine on the day of your treatment, as this can make the blood draw less effective.
Your provider will recommend an initial series of treatment 3 monthly treatments to reach your goals.  Additional treatments about once a year are recommended to maintain results.
Some patients begin to see improvement in just 1-2 treatments, but best results are seen 3 months after the final treatment. Continuing to use medical grade skin care and use sunscreen daily to maintain your results.
